Is it "Honeybee" or "Honey bee?"

Some people write Honey bee while others write honeybee, one word vs two words, which way is correct? Well, officially both can be correct, but I prefer to follow this simple rule, if the common name matches the scientific group of the organism (e.g., a house fly is a true fly) then the common name should be written as 2 words. If the common name does not match the scientific group of the organism (e.g., a dragonfly is not a true fly) then the common name should be written as one word.

The downside of spelling honey bee correctly is that when you use the two word, correct spelling, the results match both "honey" and "bee" rather than one creature. A minor problem of course, and my personal solution is searching with Apis mellifera...
